I am glad I found back that damn password and user name...

So there is LIFE again on Jooosep !

Let see who and when someone will comment on this last entry.

3 questions for a start :

1. What's the meaning of life ?

2. This blog has been on for like about 7 years now. What has changed in your life ?

3. Who I am ?

Hey guys!

I know it’s been a while, years probably, since I last posted a message here, but I suppose I must’ve felt that nothing I’d been doing had been worth mentioning here. In fact, I totally forgot how to use this site. I wasn’t gonna count up all the stuff I’ve been doing since last time, but rather just drop by to tell you that I’m in Greenland, and hope you’re all very jealous.

I got this job here and I’m staying a month while I’m on vacation from Perlan, where I’m working still. (less than a year to go now) It’s actually Seb’s fault I’m here, since he spoke so much about going to Greenland last year, that I just couldn’t pass up this opportunity. I’m almost sorry to let him know that I’m having a good time too, but at least he’s gonna come by for a visit at the end of my tour. Right now, the weather is beautiful (somebody told me the temperature regularly reaches 25 degrees) and I managed to find some time to myself to write you guys this, so I’m sitting outside my “café” typing away. This place is called Café Brattahlid (you can google it and find a single picture) which is located in something called Qassiarsuk, which is not at all far from Nassarsuak.

Like almost everything here, it’s beautifully placed near a fjord filled with small icebergs drifting slowly by. It really looks a lot like Iceland and remotely reminds me of Bifröst and life there. Most of the time, I hang around in the kitchen, but as I figure out how things work, I hope to find more time to spend away from work. This place is almost the only thing around with regular opening hours, so a lot of people come by for coffee and socialising. (AND my great food and cakes, of course) I almost feel like a housewife stuck in her home like that. But it sure is cozy, and like I said, I do try to get outside. So far, I’ve gotten to go with some fishermen down the fjord to empty some nets and then I’ve also walked across to the next fjord. (it’s all about fjords around here).

It sure is beautiful, and people are nice, so I don’t think it’s gonna be a problem to spend the next four weeks here. Anyway, I didn’t really mean to make this all about me. I’m not really a mean or self-centred (am I???) guy, but I have to admit I really just wanted to rub your noses in this one. I’m in Greenland, and it’s f****** great!!

Emil

ndlr : I, seb, is going to visit him from the 14th to the 17th. Any one wants to team up ?

Why I love Iceland...

Well, the truth is that I really dont know. It must be that little something in the air I feel and smell each time i cross the doorway to the outside when I set foot at Kvk airport ..when that wind slaps me as a welcome and when I feel the bite of that very particlular wind on my cheeks...

I still dont know... but When I see the low mountains of Reykjavik bay, surrounded by high clouds... Oh man... When I see them i feel at ease...so relax...When you see them, you cannot resist... you cannot resist cause while the sea air is already coming into your body, the noise of the waves crushing the coast next to Hverfisgata has already invaded you... you cannot...magic is already at work...

Then, you just go straight ahead and you finally end up in a cosy café typical from Rvk...your cheeks still blushing from the air and your eyes half dropping a tear fromthe cold wind... Oh man...that's Iceland...thats Reykjavik...you've got a good black and smokey coffe warming your cold hands, and a candle on the table and you tell yourself : "Hummm, feel like if it was my own living room..." You just need then to imagine a little tune that the radio will play, by Norah jones "Feel like home", and then you will be..right in that small cosy café...

I still dont know why I love that country so much...perhaps that' s also because of its countryside ? So close and so amazing..but looking so far in the mean time....just a short journey in your car and it makes you feel like if you had already reached the end of all things...with its green and grey fading colors...

Really I still have no idea...It must be their inhabitants maybe...who even after a few months in their country keep asking you "How do you like Iceloand ? Why did you come ?" Fools...you alrezdy know the answers, why do you ask the question then ? tss tss... funny fools...

No really, I still cannot figure it out... But when you are in love, do you really want to find an explanation to every little thing which make you smile...?

Hi all from wet and wintery Auckland....well as wintery as it can get down here!!

Just thought i would contribute my 2 cents worth to help keep Joosep alive and kicking...though i think it needs a bit more than that to get him back to his usual self as he was 4 years ago. So come on guys and girls ..lets get them keys tapping!!!

Everything as pretty much the same down here in the Land of the Long White Cloud. But when are any of you going to come down this way...seems you are all milling around up north there but no thought of heading to these southern lands.

Anyway we are all looking forward to the boys bringing back the Rugby World Cup this year, though the South Africans are looking like a force to be reckoned with and if you have been able to follow it at all our boys on the black boat in Valencia are on thier way to the Americas Cup as well...though we will leave a definite comment on that one until the last boat has crossed the line in the very last race.

So anyway that is all for now. You see i am still alive and kicking somewhat regardless of a certain age creeping up on me...Pekka!!

Oh and Pekka have got training for the Auckland marathon in October...my first . So won't just be my first marathon but also have a goal of doing it before i am 40.

Take care all

Bryan.......

It's time for crap music and embarrassing moves again tonight. It's €urovision time!

Unfortunately we don't have nothing like Lordi stealing the show this time around. It's gonna be our 1st Idols winner with a very very ordinary song. So not much success for us here.

Iceland's performance was...hmmm...well....let's say...welll....nice try ; ) again...

All the world's been buzzing about the on-going world championships of icehockey. We made it to the top 4 and today we're gonna lose to the Russians.

So, a good weekend coming up.

HAVE FUN!

Bueno.

After some desperate attempts to sign in and after yet frustrating retries I finally managed to log myself in. Your prayers weren't unheard Sebastien. They were heard loud and clear indeed.

Well, long time no hear from any of u guys and even longer time no visit here. It's amazing 4 years have past since the 1st edition of the Bifröst team. If it makes any sense, we are all now 4 years older and Brian is almost 40! Hope everything is fine down under..

Last september we moved up to Lapland to do some more studies..looks like we are never getting rid of it. No complaints though as we've been doing quite ok here actually. Plenty of snow and darkness in the winter contrasting plenty of sun and constant light in the summertime.

It's been quite a busy winter and I am really looking forward to the summer now. I've been going to university here in Rovaniemi studying International relations and once a month going back south for one week for my studies in sports journalism. So that's a little bit of turning a new page now. I've been play-acting a reporter along the studies and been writing some sports stuff to the local paper. It's been quite interesting indeed. It will take me one more year to get those studies done, so I'll be on the road quite a lot until then I suppose.

We've now had two cats for more than a year now and they are getting along with us very well these days. Or finally they have started to take accept us as 'quite ok' fellows. And of course we know we still have plenty to do to fulfill their expectations.

I guess that's all for now for my stuff. Hope to hear from as many of you as possible..

And thanks Seb for keeping the place alive!!Thumbs up.

why hello!
Long time ago... Well its a new start now and I hope everyone is inspired by Seb´s mail and Joosep changed his underwear.

What am I doing? .. I´m now on my second year studying Service Management/Hotell&Restaurant in Lunds University (Sweden). Yes.. I must be crazy going into the hotellbusiness.. but I´m beyond saving. This summer will hopefully be my first year away from Fosshotel.. I´m going to try to find another job..in Belgium in fact. Broadening my languageskills.. I´m going the whole way with learning dutch (to take on those dutch grandmas in the restaurants); I can already understand most and get by. Let´s see...if they don´t want me I´ll probably come crawling back to Renato.

Hello all,

So what happened to the whole of us ? Are we all dead or so busy that we cannot even give 5 mns of our time to the good old crowd by leaving a few words on OUR blog ?

Tss tss, lazy bastards we are, arent we ? Even our Gulli did write something from an Ireland even smaller than Iceland...

I am of course still in Spain. I am kind of busy too, but very happy. I split my time 'tween my uni, my job (French assistant in a school) and some party or cinema cycle.

Life is not bad here, even if the Spaniards are a bit hard to come by (difficult in the way it is hard to maintain great friendship, but i do deal with and i succeed in getting a few).

I am also getting prepared in Italian, for I am normally going to Italy for a year in October. I dont yet where, but it seems i will move to Toscana. But before that I will for sure be in Iceland this summer. Maybe doing an internship at the French Ambassy, working at week ends in fosshotel. Dont know yet either.

Take care all, and leave some posts !

Hello all,

So suvi you have your own sauna ? Christ THAT's luxury...me who thought that a toilet's door was top luxury...I am dismissed !! ;)). Is pekka watching football in it ? with some boozes ? Are you new friends nice ?
Where I am now - my dear moving colleages - it is not as cold as you think...Granada is so FUCKING warm. 32 now is the average, I wouldnt like to be here in summer time.
Finding a flat wasnt easy in Spanish ( but thanks to some spanish people I knew here I went better than expected ), but i got one. 3 spanish - 2 girls and 1 guy - are now my new housemate. I am right in the center, next to el corte ingles. I have got 2 bathrooms and a box full of weeds ( even though I dont smoke ).
The city is really nice..there is so MANY people in the street 24 hours a day or so. The uni is located in an old building - historic heritage - and there are just girls and a few guys who jus happen to be all gay :))).
So far - thanks to Lorena - all my friends are spanish. So, you can guess that it's help a little to improve ;).
My rent ? 135 euros a month. 1 euros 10 un café solo. And 1.50 a beer and some tapas ( big ). I am stopped drinking since I set foot on the Spanish ground. Pfiuuu.... and with my almost 1000 euros that the French gvt give me every month, money is no problem ;))))
Miss you guys, and I hope I will see you sometimes this year,
Beso,
Seb

Hi all!

Here we are..In Rovaniemi. Feels kind of weird to be here. All my friends and family are 800km away. First week I had a feeling that I've moved abroad=)

I really like this city. There are lots of students in here so first week I went out 4 times. You can party almost every day.. I think it's not that good if you actually try to study as well. Our apartment is really nice and we have our own sauna (sounds really luxurious). It's also situated well, right next to the city centre but not right in to it.

The best thing is that Santa is living just 8km away. I think I need to visit him often in December. If you send me some money I can maybe tell him to visit you as well in Christmas.

Emil; late for work on a Sunday

Sunday, July 09, 2006

Oh yeah... Reykjavik I am. I am housemating with Emil and everything is fine on Laugavegur. we dont really get to see each other since he comes back home at 1h every night, and since me I go to work at (8h15 ).

Emil is working hard on his house - I insisted to put a door at the bathroom/toilets, and he finally agreed with me after a couple of days...luxury....the same happened an other day : he bought 2 chairs !!! Now we can seat !!! if it is not luxury, I dont know what it could be !!!

Work is fine. My co workers are all right but it seems we are too different to hang out together ( I dragged them out once. Nice but not 100 per cent fun : not the same background). Anyway I registered in the library of Rvk, they ve got an amazing huge shelf of French books there...and since I didnt get time to read this year : time to catch up !!! And in the mean time i am working on my Icelandic, I am starting to be proud of me. I shoud be able to read Icelandic newspapers quite well by the end of the summer.

Good news : I passed all my exams. I postgraduated twice ( meaning, in two different degrees at a time ) and i received confirmation that Granada in Andalucia will be the city I will live in from september on... Nice !

So Pekka, Suv and Bryan, how are you doing ? ( I heard of mostly everybody else at some point, but not you guys )

Ciao,
Seb
